Of Note

Some things to discuss on this Tuesday – officially the start of my week according to my school schedule.

While I never gave two shits about 1UP, news of EGM closing shop after the UGO purchase – with its January 2009 issue being the last – has come as a shock to me that their long reign within the gaming media industry has ended. I remember my mom giving me a subscription to EGM back in high school – I still have many of the old issues lying around in my room – I thought of it as a pretty reliable and fun read during my boyhood days. Some great reads and cool staff – I love you Jeanne Kim – not only got me hyped up for products I could never afford nor really need, but actually encouraged me to read during a time when I really didn’t give a crap about my studies. But I guess like all my nostalgic moments, things must end someday.

On another note, those crazy Japanese motherfuckers have given me more reason to part with my already sparse cash fund again. Ubiq Fatima has released the Ubiq Fatima x Snoopy Pack sneakers, ornamented with Snoopy drawings sprawled all over it in the form of cartoon panels. They’re tacky as fuck and I doubt I’d wear ’em. But like all art I find pleasing, there will be a way to show off these bad boys to the world. Now about that price tag…
